I picked up FFXIII today! So far i've completed about 45% of the game and I must say if you're an RPG fan this is a MUST! Everthing from the voice acting and details to the battle system is top notch! Even though i'm ALL ABOUT FFXIII (i'll probably be cosplaying Fang), I wanted to know how others are feeling about it? Who's your favorite character?

So you're saying you've spent 20 hours into the game? I doubt it. =P The story itself is 50 hours long. I have 15 hours in it so far. My favorite character is Snow and Lightning. Snow with his provoking attitude and Lightning with her swift and fast attacks!

Im almost in chapter 6. There are 13 chapters. Mathmatically if im at 5 then 5/13= .38 or 38% & 6/13=.46 or 46% (I'd fall somwhere between 40 - 45%)
50 hour is only an average, some will finish faster, while some finish slower. Although Im going quickly now, That dosen't mean my pace will be the same later on in the game. Gotta account for mini games and Ultimate items :3
So far Sahz and Vanille are my faves. I like how they interact and speak with everyone. For fighting, I like Lightning, Sahz and Vanille. Im sure i'll love Fang as soon as she stops kicking Snows ass and joins my party.

Have you noticed that Snow gets punched in the face by women alot? lol.

I'm really enjoying this game. I think I just finished chapter four last night, but I didn't look at my save file before I went to bed. I have a few gripes, but all in all, this game is pretty freaking awesome. Right now, I'm a Snow and Lightening fanboy. As the story develops, I do wonder if my attitudes to different characters will change.

Yes there is 13 chapters, but each chapter doesn't contain the same amount of hours. I could've sworn chapter 7 took about 6-7 hours to complete. x_x I have 18 and a half hours of gameplay and just got into chapter 8. Fang is a kick ass character once you get her.

OMG, I don't have this game. Don't have time to play. But I will get it when they drop it down in price.

Is there a love story?

@Destrucive
Play time so far is 13:37 and i'm probably 1/4 into chapter 7.
I'm soooooooo cosplaying Fang! That chick is the sh*t! I love he accent and swagger.

@Julian
My attitude has definately changes, Snow kind of fell off for me at first because I got tired of all his "crying" and promises, but I like him now that more of his past is comming out...same with lightning.

@ Gackto
There is a love story, but that's not all.

I was so happy when the game finally came out! I went and got it during my break that day. I had to wait almost 5 hours till I could go home and play it! :P It was the longest shift I have ever worked. When I finally got home I played it for about 5 hrs and then decided it was best to stop and go to sleep... stupid work in the morning.

I'm thinking of cosplaying Hope but people said he was emo. And I haven't played it so I don't know.

How is Hope as a cool character? Maybe I should just cosplay Lightning. XD

Hope is best suited for healing and buffs. I don't find him emo, he just assumes to much and is stubborn. After he finds out the full story of the events that causes his outlook on people and life to be so bad, he toughens up and stops being childish.

Cosplay wsie You may like Lt. Colonel Yaag Rosch (minor character)

I'm actually pretty disappointed in the game so far, but maybe because I had extremely high expectations for it. When it comes to RPG's, I put a lot of interest into plot and character development, and I was hoping for some goodness out of FF13. Of course, I have yet to beat the game (I just finished chapter 4 earlier today) and so far, all I can say is "meh."

I love the battle system and I really like the idea of the way of leveling up characters. Graphically the game looks superb and I am impressed that it just looks so well on the PS3.

As for the short-coming of the game, I find the story just too hard to swallow. I've invested several hours into the game and I refuse to read the massive amount of information in the "dialogue" section to know what a Pulse L'Cie or a Fal'Cie or a Sanctum whatever is. Perhaps it is the translation, and not the writing, but I still have yet to grasp a comfortable hold on what is what in the strange world of Cocoon.

My biggest gripe is with the characters. I feel like squeenix is just rehashing character types and a couple of models. Am I the only one who notices the resemblance of Hope to Vahn from FF12? Anyways, everyone's aesthetically pleasing, as usual. Vanille's VA really pisses me off. I find her to be so annoying that I would rather drill into my ears the voice of a high-pitched Japanese school girl. The only VA's that I feel give a good sense into their char are the ones for Snow and maybe Sahz. Of course, just like the rest of this post, this is only my opinion, but I cannot find myself to like any of the characters.

The puns are horrible. Oh god, the humor really really really bad. Cutscenes are filled with typical cliched cliches that butcher any chance of depth in characters. (there are too many scenes where someone asks Lightning a question, she walks in front of them with her back to them, and says something with a double meaning; often her giving a "strong" statement when obviously hinting at how much she is hurting inside)

As a game, this is awesome. As for the other stuff... meh. Who knows, though? Maybe this game will salvage itself by the end of my 40+ hours? Haha. :)

Sadly you will only understand the story by reading all of the Datalogs. I've been reading all of the datalogs and it's been making some sense. Overall, I love the game.

Oh my gosh I am loving this game so far. I'm a bit torn right now. Been thinking about cosplaying as Jihl Nabaat but I dont really know that much about her yet. I haven't even seen her in the game yet. My friend is planning on going as Lightning.

You could have a cardboard cutout of her and just carry that in front of you all the time. Though you might want some eye holes or something like that. :P

Ok. I am about 50% through this game (chapter 11 I think) and I'm experience a love/hate relationship. I had really high hopes for this, but my biggest issue has been with the writing and dialogue. There are some REALLy strong moments, particularly with Fang and Lightning, but this... Ugh. This probably sounds awful, but this feels like a stereotypical JRPG. In the past, I feel like Final Fantasy has transcended that genre. Everyone just seems... emo. I understand WHY they have all these emotional outbursts every ten minutes, but I'd be more inclined to believe them/feel for them if they weren't so frequent, or followed by bi-polar displays of glee.

I actually enjoy the combat, though I'm at the part where things get exponentially harder. I'm frustrated with the weapons system since there's no real ultimate weapon. I want the best gun made obvious to me, rather than the free form character builder. I would have been way happier with XIII combat mechanics paired with the XII leveling system.

I'm still going to make a Fang cosplay though :3

I really liked this game. I haven't played a true JRPG for a long time. It's been either stuff like Dragon Age or Demon's Souls for me, so I've been longing to just be told where to go and what to do. For me, Final Fantasy has never transcended JRPGs at all, so maybe that's why I've not felt let down (different expectations). I'm now doing well or poorly in Resonance of Fate, depending on the minute.

In terms of difficulty in chapter 11, I understand what you mean. I would recommend doing the first 15 missions. They take a few hours, but the open and pretty world has been waiting for you for so long, that it's worth spending the time there. It also brought back some of the old feelings that I have for Final Fantasy. At that point, you'll have a Chocobo, and your next area will be easier too.

The weapons system seemed unnecessary to me. I would have preferred more weapons, honestly. I upgraded one weapon to level four and it beat out most new weapons that I found for the majority of the game. Considering that upgrading is a matter of applying crappy items to raise the EXP multiplier to 3, and then spamming big EXP items to raise the level, it's not that exciting. The max level on those items should have been three and more weapon changing should have been in place. It felt to me like the entire equipment system was watered down. How many accessories and weapons did anyone even find in this game? Also, no helmets, shields, or body equipment at all!
