Anime Fall Season 09
So the season kicked off about a month ago, now, what are your guy's opinions so far?
Any that you would recommend? |
I am soooo out of the loop with new anime. I'm still watching stuff from the 90's. XD
Zalmida: The stuff from the 90's is the best! Cheesy ADR, non-digital animation, and awesome story lines. I love 90's anime! |
Julian: I just finally watched Evangelion for the first time and it totally reset my standard for anime. It's all about Cowboy Bebop, Silent Mobius, and dozens of girls of girls living in a house with one guy. XD
@ Soldier Blue: I do not see "Toward the Terra" on the schedule for Fall 09. Is that an older title?

EliteSasuke said: ESper, I would recommend you watch Winter Sonata. Its based on a Korean Drama. The most original part about it though, is the audio is Korean. Its one of the first fully subtitled anime that I have ever seen.
I had no idea that was turned into an anime! The drama was wonderful and touched the very bottom my oceanheart. I'm so out of touch with current animu... what is out exactly. Anyone have a list? |

the list for the fall season of 09 can be downloaded as an image, here: http://irregularbloggers.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/k0kdc2.jpg
Those are primarily the main shows. I don't know if that list shows that they continued Inuyasha though. Thought it worth mentioning. |

I'm keeping current with a few series. None of them are really groundbreaking or crazy, just stuff to fill time with this season I suppose.
First up is Nyan-koi. I'm a sucker for catchy intros, and this one's got it in spades. Story centers around an average highschool boy with a crush. He's cursed by a cat god, and can hear what cat's are saying. He needs to do 100 good deeds toward cats, or else he gets turned into one: problem is though, that he's got a severe cat allergy. Eventually, he ends up with a harem of girls. It's got some okay humor. It's fun, but forgettable. Next is "The Sacred Blacksmith". I honestly dislike this show, but the character designs are great. I can forsee a lot of cosplay from this in the future. Story's not really gone anywhere as of yet, but it centers around magical demon swords and a blacksmith who forges katana instead of standard European weapons. We'll see how this goes, depending on how well the characters develop it could turn into something good. Seems to be moving VERY slowly at the moment though. Dragonball Kai. Nostalgia hits me pretty hard, what can I say. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Fantastic in every sense of the word. Definitely a great series. Sora no Otoshimono aka "It Fell From the Sky" Fanservice, Ecchi humor, Harem, Comedy. It's really stupid, and is probably going to turn a lot of people away. It is however, pretty funny. Again, good for a laugh, but totally forgettable. I've had recommendations for Winter Sonata and Railgun. I'd like to wait until those series finish out before watching them, since they seem to have a good arcing story. I don't know about you all, but the one week wait between episodes always kills me, so I try to wait for a series to finish if it's an important one. |

I'm interested in Blacksmith! What's a series that it's gonna be the next BIG thing?
Bakemonogatari, Eden of the East (Higashi no Eden), and Darker than Black 2 Bakemonogatari was pretty big in Japan... really big in fact... 2ch has made its final pick of the anime of 2009, and the list provided seems unlikely to provoke much opposition. The “let’s pick the top 5 anime of 2009″ ranking (with an additional 5 anime to bring it up to the obligatory 10), along with the votes each received:

Haha its funny that you recommended Nyan Koi, as I cant get enough of that show. Im a sucker for ecchi comedies.
I cant wait for the spring season though, as the new Gundam series is released. :) |

For this season, definitely gonna be Bakemonogatari, or Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. Umineko is based on a SUPER popular series of visual novels, so expect a LOT more to come out of it. To be honest though, there's not a whole lot this season worth shouting about. Stuff that's good and fun, and interesting too. But nothing earth shattering like TTGL or Code Geass. This season's pretty forgettable all around =( |
Well Bakemonogatari and Umineko were in the summer season, for the fall though, I do agree. It didnt really carry anything mind blowing by any means.

Hm~ Have you watched a movie called Summer Wars? I watched it just yesterday and loved it. <3 It's nothing too crazy (by this I mean there aren't any unexpected plot twists or anything), but something about this just caught my heart. I'll admit that I cried three times. xDD
It's relatively light (well... in comparison to anime like Code Geass (<3), Bleach, etc.) and very, very refreshing. Give it a shot if you have a little over an hr and 30 (I think...) on your hands. :D |
I've been waiting for Summer Wars since they announced it : ) I have it downloaded, but I haven't found the time to watch it yet... but I will!
If I'm not mistaken, the team that did The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is involved with Summer Wars... which means I'm guaranteed to like it. And cry. |
